  • An equation that you follow in order to solve a problem.
  • A formula that you follow to get precise results each and every time.

  • Following the equation for the Pearson Correlation Coefficient
  • Following a set of directions to get to a friends house.

  • Recipes are algorithms for cooking
  • Completing a science experiment using the scientific method

Problems When Relying on Algorithms

  • Algorithms shouldn't always be relied upon, like in situations where format (websites, software) changes frequently. Directions may be useful tools but the ability to overcome problems that arise without a set of rules is much more beneficial.
